News Freund Trial Rescheduled Posted 18 November 2008 The trial date for Karina Freund of Fayette, a former Agriprocessors human resources employee charged with helping illegal workers use false documents to work, has been rescheduled for next year. Freund was arrested in September by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and charged with harboring illegal immigrants. Her arrest followed a massive federal raid at the Postville plant May 12, during which 389 people were arrested. Freund's trial was supposed to have started yesterday, Monday, Nov. 17, but has now been rescheduled for Jan. 20, 2009. She is among five Agriprocessors officials who have pleaded not guilty to thousands of charges of violating Iowa's child labor laws.
